430W data card adapter

I'm trying to upgrade my 430W obstacle database but need the programmer that Garmin sells for near $200 (according to them).

Do any of you guys have the 'adapter?' that I can rent/borrow?

Will the Skybound G2 work on the obstacle DB? I just bought one for the NavData cards, and it was $60.

(I get my obstacle clearance through the G3X....using the 430W for approaches coupled to the a/p).

Doug, Garmin told me this morning that I needed the Garmin programmer because the obstacle card is a little thicker than the navdata card and I bought one just like yours and the rep told me that's the wrong one.

I have the Jeppesen Skybound adapter (part number NDDKYUSB) that I use for the data cards on the XL300, will this work? if yes, i will send it to you to borrow. It has plug in slots marked Garmin, PCMCIA and EDGE.

Here's a good post with more information on the 430W obstacle database.

...but you must use the Garmin proprietary data card reader which is available for $150! The Garmin rep recommended that if you want to update your obstacle database to find someone near you who already has the data card reader and see if you can borrow it.
