Default NH

Here is how I do this. First google the destination city and make note of a couple of larger cities close by, as well as major highways if applicable. Now go to Skyvector.com and bring up the appropriate sectional chart. Locate destination again and look at the surrounding area. In the case of Salem there are three reasonably close airports. In this case Lawrence MA, KLWM, is the obvious choice because of highway access. Interstate access close to LWN, Interstate all the way to Salem going around the city of Lawrence.
You can also use Skyvector to search area fuel prices. The Skyvector airport page will give you facility and sometimes FBO info.

Nashua KASH would be your best bet I guess. Very friendly with restaurant on the field.

For years I have used Kyler's airport finder:

http://aviationtoolbox.org/old/nearby_airports

Someone recently pointed me to this as well, which looks nice, but I have not really played with it:

But asking around on places like VAF keeps you from landing at a dump sometimes.
