Default inspections

During the last 6 yrs of crewing helicopters.... vibration was a daily item... We all used the torque stripe extensively... yes I know it's a green helicopter but a little flourescent orange goes a long way inside the tail boom or other critical areas... The last condition inspection I did was on a -4 and it turned up wear on the flap push rods and wear on the motor mount/oil dipstick... and a few other items too. I like threadlock and locknuts!!! I just found a spinner loose on a friends 6a.... I was pushing the aircraft around and the spinner felt loose... ACK! I looked behind the spinner without removing anything and saw it cracked 2/3 of the way around.... the crack was 1/4 in outside the shaft of the prop on the rear bulkhead... cato 3 blade prop. Caught that just in time! DO those condition inspections properly!!!! You'd be surprised what you find... Not to mention cleaning all the FOD out from the flight controls!
