Default save $$ on hangar rent

originally this was just going to be a prototype ramp. I was given scrap lumber from vans when I built their mezzanine at the n plains site. 17 years later it still is in use. I have a harbor freight 110V winch and tow the plane up the ramp using a heavy-duty tow bar attached to the allen head screw sockets on the nose gear [with a safety strap as well]. my hangar mate's RV-6A wing tip fits between my wheel pant and the underside of my wing. I know it all looks like ****, but I've saved over $22,000 in hangar rent in 17 years. we can take either plane out without moving the other. the hangar owner just shakes his head when he drives by and sees 2 RV's in one std hangar [40'?]. we also realized that 2 RV-7's probably wouldn't fit with their extra wing length, the fit is that close.
the "IV" line going to the oil fill tube is my desiccant circulation system which pumps dry air thru the engine case using an aquarium air pump.

Nice innovation! I guess you could also turn the ramp around and use it for British type Harrier launches.

Sweet idea - I may have to sell some friends on this to get a hangar myself.

Maybe a ramp that is flat, low to the ground, and with a motor cycle lift (type) undercarriage could be used to lift a plane, then with an integral battery powered motivator, roll it where is is wanted. Then it could be used in any hangar easily and even used for service. More costly that free, but made of steel and movable.

Every good idea begins with a prototype, but once one sees core idea at work, it is a thing of beauty. If they don't, then their opinion has no value anyway. Hmmm - $22000, THAT is value!

Nice idea!!

Hmmmm, I moved to a bigger hangar so that I could keep a few old cars in there (71 Triumph TR6 driver, and my first car, a 67 Ford Fairlane GT that I'll start restoring eventually). I also have room in the new one (a big port-a-port) to work on my daily driver, which is nice because I don't have a garage at home.

That counts as saving money, right?
