Question Center Fuselage

Working on the center fuselage and I noticed on the plans (Dwg 28) a note that says to enlarge a hole for the flap pushrod but does'nt give a size. The instructions don't mention the hole at all. When should I enlarge this hole and to what size? I notice the pushrod is 5/16".

It would be impossible to dimension this hole. It must be "cut to fit". The hole actually ends up somewhere between a kidney shape and an "L" shape on the bottom skin and a half round on the side skin. It is cut to fit your individual airplane. As the flaps go down, the pushrod moves in a different plane. It's difficult to put into words, but will become clear when you get to that point. Find an RV parked with the flaps down and take a look. Next weekend at LOE would be a perfect oppertunity.

OK thanks. I'll just leave it open for now and open it up when the time comes.

Bob,
I read your flap rod writeup, good work.
I also thought my flaps had too much motion.
I put marks on the left flap at 10 degree increments.
On the ground, my flaps will extend to about 44 degrees.
With air loads at about 100 mph, my full flaps are
right at 40 degrees. You may not need to do anything.
Tom
