Default Sealing slider canopy latch

The last time I flew in light precip I had a slight drip from the slider canopy latch penetration. Has anyone come up with a good solution. I was thinking about adding an O-ring with a small amount of grease. With the current nylon washer I am not sure I have room for an O-ring.

Default

Would a couple paper towels stuffed in the "D" of the latch handle be sufficient to catch the drips that get in through the latch?
