Default 1st Flight

July 1st, 2006. A date I'll never forget. RV-8 #80535 took off from Dodge City, KS. After 8 years of building and a little help from my friends it was an unbelievable experience. My two sons were there to help with the planning and the flight. Both are pilots with one a T-38 flight instructor, so had plenty of good advice. However, when you're the one pushing the throttle forward the adrenaline levels increase significantly. Since then I've put the required 40 hours on, flew to homebuilder's mecca, Oshkosh, northern Minnesota, Colorado Springs, Angel Fire, NM and to see my granddaughters. Every time I fly there's a feeling of awe in the efficiency of the machine and the fact that I actually built it.
