Default Oil Cooler Connections

My O-320 Accessory case has the lower Oil Cooler output capped with a plug and an AN fitting on the upper output. It looks like I cannot get a straight hose fitting on it, so was thinking about pulling the plug from the lower output and capping the upper. However, in looking at the Lycoming diagrams it appears that sometime a spring and plug is used in the upper port and never just capped. I can't think of a reason that is required, however, I am concerned that I will need that spring and plug if I use the lower port.

Does someone know that different combinations that are supported for taking the Oil Cooler output off the Accy Case?

I appreciate any guidance here.

Thanks,

Larry

Never got any thoughts on this issue, so thought I would try again.

Thanks,

Larry
