Default Nice Numbers

Flying from Camarillo to Torrance yesterday, I was pretty happy with the overall low altitude performance I was seeing in my RV-8. This is with a stock IO-360 angle valve and Hartzell BA prop. This set up runs very cool with stock baffle and cowling configuration, except that I moved the oil cooler to behind #3 instead of #4. This is also the small Niagara cooler that Vans provides in the FWF kit.

Crappy pictures, but as you can see, 180kts TAS at 3465', all cylinders below 300F, 9.2 GPH, and Oil T 172F. This is about 70 LOP, WOT (wide open throttle) @ 27" , 2250 RPM. OAT was 67F.

Incidentally, the highest CHT's I've ever seen is about 385f, on a 100 degree day with a heat soaked engine, taking off out of St. George, UT (at the old airport).
