Default Registration For The 406Mz ELT

My wife got "the call" Saturday. It was from the Coast Guard saying my ELT had gone off somewhere in California. While I told her I was going flying she didn't think it was to Santa Rosa!

I sold my RV-12 to a guy out there and didn't think to deregister the ELT from my name and have him re-register it. Heck, I don't remember registering it in the first place!

Anyway, save your self and your family a heart attack and deregister the 406 ELT is you sell a plane with one. If you buy a plane with one, make sure it is in your name with your contacts.

The problem is you have to have the ID to deregister it. I don't have any of that info.

MY ACK 406 ELT came with two peel off stickers with the ID printed on them.

I stuck one in the log book not really knowing what to do with it - reading your post, it now seems like a great idea...
