Default FAB and Engine Offset

Working on the FAB and learning as I go.
Following the plans I clamped the two top plates together
and mounted on the FI throttle body or servo or whatever.
I have an O-320-D2G converted to Gami FI.
Wondering just how much have folks had to turn the neck of the
box to center on the intake in the bottom cowl? When I look through
the intake hole on the scoop it I can see that the fuel servo for the FI
is somewhat offset to the pilots side. Guess this is normal?
This makes the edge of the FAB really close to the edge where the recess
for the scoop drops down on the cowl on the pilots side.
On thing, the top plate does line up with the top of the air scoop.
It's just offset a good bit, don't know how to tell how much but its a good
ways from being straight behind the intake.
Does this sound normal?

Yes, that is normal to have the FAB hit the snorkel at an angle.

It is not uncommon, depending on your setup, to have to fabricate a new mounting plate so you can offset the airbox to get proper clearance from the lower cowl.
This is not a big deal but offsetting does set up a greater possibility for cracking of the mounting plate.

Thanks Bruce for the pic. That saved a thousand words. So on the close side, you air box looks to be what....1.5" from the cowl? Angle looks pretty close too. Yeah!

I had to make a new plate and off set it to line up better. It was no big deal.
