Unhappy Garmin select approach is GONE!

I purchased electronic charts (lite) last week for $250 since the old Jepps were out of date. The copy of the govt. charts is cheaper. Now, the old approaches that could be chosen by the SEL APP soft key have gone away.
Were they wiped clean by the "cheap charts" do you suppose?
The autopilot would follow at least the final leg in the old procedures. Not any more.

Hello Nick,

Yes, your 696 only holds one NAV database at a time, and when the U.S. VFR NAV database was loaded, it replaced the older Jepp NAV database that had approaches to select.

This is definitely one of the downsides of using the lower cost U.S. VFR NAV database instead of the Jepp NAV database.

Sorry for the surprise. We have the note below on FlyGarmin to try to make sure no one is surprised by this, but appreciate that it may not always be seen. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Thanks,
Steve

The U.S. VFR Navigation database is a limited database with content provided by AeroNav Products, a division of the FAA. The content is less comprehensive and varies from Garmin's other navigation databases. For example, this database does NOT contain approach data.
