Default Team aerodynamix passengers

It seems in almost all of the in flight formation pictures that their RV-8s all have a passenger in the back seat? I would think during the routines that weight would be kept to a minimum for better performance? Is there any other reason besides good PR and it being cool that they would want a back seater? Perhaps CG?

Passengers are NEVER in our backseats for any air show performance. Photo shoots, media rides, sponsor rides and the like are for promotion. We love taking folks in our back seats for the same reasons that you do. Share the love. But, not only do the regulations prohibit passengers in our planes for air show performances, but it creates additional challenges and risks that exceed our risk reward profile.

Kahuna,
Bravo! You just showcased the end result of an active Risk Management process. Well done, Sir.

Oh that makes sense. I saw you guys at Sun & Fun. Just amazing precision and talent! Keep up the great work! One day when I grow up I want to be a Aerodynamix pilot

If you grow up, you will be in-eligible for team try-outs. Suggest you stay being a kid, DREAM BIG, and call on us when your ready to 'play with the older kids' And thanks for the kind words from the SnF performance.

Adam----I have had the honor of flying backseat with the Team, more specifically Jerry "Widget" Morris. If you ever have the opportunity, do it. Not only is it fun, but you learn alot in a SHORT time. They make it seem easy, but they practice ALOT, and are constantly refining the routine.
Yep----its great fun!

Don'tcha just love it when these bits of wisdom pop up here at VAF? Words we should all live by (and most of us have.)
