Default Ellison or Rotec TBI?

Hi,
I am looking to fit a Throttle Body Injector (TBI) to my RV4 and used to fly behind an Ellison in my Nipper. Once set up it was trouble free (took alot to set it up) but is about $1000 more expensive than the Rotec. I bought a Rotec to fit to the Nipper but never did fit it as I solved the issues with the Ellison so sold it on.
If I buy second hand Ellison it is going to cost close to a new unit if I have it serviced before fitting.
The Rotec is much heavier but does it work as well?
Any experience with the Rotec anyone please? (Good or Bad!)
Thanks
Neil

I'm not flying yet ("soon"...) but have installed a Rotec on my OX-340S. I had to fabricate a new mixture bracket and bellcrank to translate the fore/aft movement to a left/right movement.

I also had to track down a couple of specialised fluid fittings (from Summit Racing) to connect the TBI to the pressure regulator, but that is about it. I'm looking forward to seeing how well it performs.

Smile ELlISON REPAIRS COST

Hi Neil

For your info I had my Ellison TBI overhaul by Ellison last summer and it cost $400.00 including shipping and it was better than new when I got it back.

Turn around was about a week.

A friend installed a Rotec on his RV-7 and he was never able to get it to work properly..He send it back and it took months before he got his money back.

YMMV

I have no experience with the Rotec but did use an Ellison on my O-320 160hp powered -4 for ten years and had great service from it. As said earier, it's a challenge to setup (following directions is hard) but once done I was very happy with its performance.
