Default GDL 39 mounting location

Just received a used GDL 39. Placed it on the glare shield of my RV9. Don't like the look. As I recall I've seen at least one GDL 39 mounted in an alternate location, can't recall the specifics. Has anyone come up with an alternate to the forward field of view.

Default GDL 39

You can use the remote antennas and mount the GSL 39 out of site.

I like things uncluttered. In my 9A I hung it underneath the glare shield with tie wraps. It weighs ounces. I used a $17 transponder antenna from Spruce on the belly. Fed the GPS data from the Garmin via rs232 data wire. Sent that same data downstream to the autopilot.
Output of the data goes back to the Garmin for traffic and WX.
I get ground stations from 100 miles away. Simple. Uncluttered on the glare shield. And not an iPad in sight.
( never mind I am typing on one in the hotel tonight)

I mounted mine on the upper left side of the baggage compartment in the RV-3. Although I hard-wired it to the 796, the bluetooth signal works just fine through the seatback, seat cushion and myself. I also installed a DeltaPop blade antenna on the rear fuselage belly.
