Default Kelly filters barely fit

on an IO360 with the right angled adaptor...The one that points to the 10 o clock position.

The Kelly's are physically longer then the Champion CH108 (something like that) and the filter comes to within about 1/8th of the upper left tube on the engine mount.

Of course I have already ordered 4more Kelly's from AS&S...darn it.

I found I could improve the clearance by er a carefully engineered dent in the filter where the canister rolls from the side to the top.

Feeling bad I did this I cut the old champion open on the lathe...(what a mess!) and found that area of the filter just contains fresh air as there is a spring in the middle holding the element down on the sealing rubber on the base.

Its still a little hokey and for the $2 difference in price it ain't worth it but it won't let go or do anything bad.
