Default Pulling Impulse Coupling on Slick Mag

I am doing a tear down / inspection on the Slick Mags on the O-320 that I am rebuilding. I need to pull the impulse coupling, but do not have the special tool. I am thinking that I should only pull from the main shaft where the slot for their puller is, but don't have a puller that small. I could probably get a puller on the larger section, but fear it may not be strong enough.

I was thinking that a bearing seperator may get in the that groove and I can rent one from Autozone.

Has anyone done this without the special puller?

Default Slick mag overhaul

Just had my Slick mags 500hr inspection a few weeks ago. They found a loose rivet on the impulse coupling.....$400 for a new one, I think. Hope this does not make your hands shake now taking the impulse off.

I wound up grinding down the jaws of a small puller I had. I worked fine. Luckil my coupling was in good shape.
