Re: Service Bulletins 14-01-31 and 14-02-05 Horizontal Stabilizer and Elevator Cracks
A representative from the NTSB recently contacted Van?s in reference to SB-14-01-31 and SB-14-02-05 (Horizontal Stabilizer Front Spar and Elevator Hinge Positions). They re-examined the structure of N147BK (the accident was in September 2013) and found no evidence of the pre-existing cracking noted in either service bulletin.
Because Van?s is a party to that investigation, we are not able to disclose more detail. The NTSB has, however, given us permission to release this statement in order to relieve the concerns of owners and operators of similar aircraft.
Fly Safe,
Van?s Aircraft, Inc.

What am I missing here?

N147BK is listed as a PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage when I do a Google search.

They got the tail number wrong. It's supposed to be N174BK.

I just copied it. Not sure if the number is correct. We all know it is supposed to be Tony's.
