Default Tip: Fix those idiot proof gas cans

I have one good old gas can and 6 of those idiot vent-free abominations. I've seen various kits to fix them but don't always trust the vendor. I found a solution on amazon.com

The "Hi-Flo Gas Can Spout Kit" ... but i comes with a disclaimer:
this product is banned for sale in the following states: CA, CT, DC, DE, MA, ME, MD, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA and VA
Thankfully, the white version is called the "Hi-Flo Water Can Spout Kit" and is available everywhere

It fits both of the common 5 gallon cans I have picked up from places like walmart.

Yes, I bought several of these when I saw them at Orschlen's last summer!

I have undeleted this thread because it is very much RV related for those of us who are fueling our RVs with auto gas hauled from a local station in the plastic red cans.

I modified my cans by removing the interlocks in the nozzles and adding vents made from steel tire valve stems. The cans now flow great and the O-320 seems to be very happy on mogas. I sure am enjoying not having to clean the lead deposits off the black bottom of my plane!

Thanks Sam, IMHO your are the BEST moderator here hands down. Good thought put in before pushing the magic button! THANKS a million. Wish more would do the same.

I'm still trying to figure out why the EPA mandated the change to our gas cans? I spill more gas with these ventless cans than I ever did with the vented cans.

More wisdom by the people who brought us MTBE and ethanol.

....the people who decided that new electrical outlets had to have the skinny hole/wide hole......so that half of my Dad's tools no longer could be plugged in!
