Default RV Production Rate

Every once in a while I take a snapshot of the completed RV's hobbs on the Vans site and store the numbers in a spreadsheet. Geeky, I know, but whatever. I am not consistent in the timing, but I do have four data points over the last 2 years. The current rates for the different models looks like this in terms of airplanes per year:

RV-3 2.8
RV-4 11.1
RV-6/6A 31.1
RV-7/7A 91.7
RV-8/8A 64.4
RV-9/9A 92.2
RV-10 135.6
RV-12 77.8

They all have pretty linear trends (meaning over the two year period it looks relatively constant) except for the RV10, it is on an increasing rate currently. Interesting that the 6 still has a 30+ per year production rate. Also interesting is that there is an even split between 7's and 9's. I expected the 7's rate to be higher than the 9's.

Default Geeky but Remarkable!

RV-3 2.8
RV-4 11.1
RV-6/6A 31.1
RV-7/7A 91.7
RV-8/8A 64.4
RV-9/9A 92.2
RV-10 135.6
RV-12 77.8
Total 506.7

506 airplanes per year is a stunning number considering the following:

-The state of the economy since 2008
-The overall downward trend in USA manufacturing
-The decrease in students and pilot licenses issued
-The fortitude, stamina and financial commitment it takes to build
-(Fill In The Blank)

Perhaps most eye opening is the fact that during 2012 (the last year GAMA has stats for) a total of 881 single and twin piston powered aircraft were delivered worldwide. Source: http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/A...es-report.aspx

Bravo!
