Default Connecting Gdl39 to a 396

I have a GDL39d that I am trying to connect to a Garmin 396. I had the wire connector for this application but had to cut into it because the 396 also runs the Tru Trak autopilot. I have set the connection settings in the 396 to Tis In/NMEA & VHF out and the auto pilot works great. I am only getting the Waiting for Data message on the 396. The GDL39 is working on my Ipad. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Phil

Hello Phil,

Which GDL 39 cable is being used in this installation? Since the cable has been modified, it would also be useful to understand how it is presently wired.

You may respond to G3Xpert@garmin.com if you prefer to receive our support this way.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Hey I am going to be facing a similar situation. I just ordered a GDL 39 and I use a GPS 496 to drive a Trio EZ Pilot. I'd like to head off any problems. Would you please report what you and Phil come up with??

Thank you,

Hello,

If you don't mind emailing us, it will make it easier to provide the wiring information that shows how to accomplish this interface.

Thanks,
Steve
