Default peformance difference 180HP vs 160HP?

Looking at RV6A aircraft: one with a tip up canopy and one with a slider. I prefer the slider look (just a personal preference) however, the tip up has a 180HP engine and the slider has 160HP. Is there a noticeable difference in performance between the two engines?

Yes, but the difference will primarily be in takeoff and climb performance. Only slight increase in cruise depending on prop. Remember you can always throttle back but you can't always get more power.

Look at Van's website for the actual numbers. The -6 isn't that far off the -7 in terms of performance.

Web page still exists with RV-6 numbers. You just need to know the secret code word to find it.
