Smile Astronics acquires Vertical Power

I am pleased to announce that Astronics acquired the Vertical Power Electronic Circuit Breaker product line on November 26, 2013. Astronics is a leading provider of advanced technologies for the global aerospace and defense industries, including Electronic Circuit Breakers for business jets such as the Eclipse 500, Pilatus PC-24, and Lear 85, under the Astronics’ CorePower® brand. Astronics will continue to manufacture, sell and support the Vertical Power ECB products and is excited to enter into the experimental aircraft and Light Sport aircraft markets under the Vertical Power brand.

Vertical Power offices will be closed during the month of December as the team moves to the Astronics’ offices in Everett, Washington. Please be patient with us during this transition; E-mail and telephone call-back support will be provided during this period.

Thank you for your support over the years, and I hope you are as excited about this next step in the journey as we are here.* I truly believe that we have found a great new home for our products with Astronics.

Kind regards,
Marc Ausman

Now we know why nobody has been worried about getting the forum back online.

Good luck! Hopefully this is a good thing for VP!

Seriously, Brian, it's been hacked and we're working to get it back up!

Arguing on the internet is like having a competition to see who can hit a brick wall the hardest. You may win, but you're still an idiot.

Hmm, I had noticed things hadn't been quite right lately over at Vertical Power. I can tell you that this scenario is better than the other one I was imagining. The one knock that some of my fellow builders have about buying the VP system is if they go out of business, its now just an $1800 brick. Its good to hear things are progressing upward now that I have some skin in the game. I absolutely love my VP-X so far. Good luck Marc, I'm counting on this going well.

No worries Marc, that would be the last thing I would be worried about if I was going thru an acquisition where I was being acquired!

Just poking at you!

Hey Marc, what does this mean for you PPS product? Is it still going forward or have there been any changes to plans for it?

Congrats on the acquisition, I hope it means big things for you guys!

Yes, we are still moving forward with the PPS. We now have access to a lot of incredible test equipment!

Marc, I take it you are personally remaining in place then?

I love my VPX, but as Ron (hangermate) said earlier we have both taken a bit of criticism about the VPX being a single point of failure and if the company ever goes away...and the unit breaks...you're rebuilding the entire electrical system, only this time the top skins are all on. I guess what I'm saying is....you're not leaving us...are you Marc?

Acquisitions are a strange animal. They always start with "We're not changing a thing"...but seldom does it remain that way. A large certified company acquired a smaller experimental company...do they intend to remain in the experimental market? Will the VPX be further developed or at least remain in production? Looks like the VP-400 has been removed from the website product list already.
