Garmin glo
Good Evening
A friend owns the Garmin Glo GPS. It is about a year old. At home, it appears charged.
However, when the power button is pushed and held to turn the unit on, nothing happens; no light , no power to unit, no comm with iPad?
Anyone have any ideas, especially the Garmin folks who hang out here?

Hello John,
Your friend might try removing the battery pack for about a minute to reset the unit and then re-install the battery.
You could also try connecting to Webupdater over the USB cable and see if it is communicating and will accept a code upload.
We just released a new software update for the GLO that adds a number of nice improvements, including support for up to 4 simultaneous Bluetooth connections, so a software update is probably in order anyway.
If all else fails, call into the support desk at the number below and the people there have a lot of experience helping mobile device customers using the GLO.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve:
Removing the battery cured the problem and the firmware has been updated. Appreciate the help, my buddy is once again a happy camper.

The latest
Here is the update on my friend glo woes.
Battery removed again. Device reset. Problem repeated itself.
Battery removed for reset. Reset successful again. This time they left the glo powered up when it was charging and all was well.
Then they powered te glo down, hooked up charger, and le voila, the problem was there again.

Hello John,
We see from the above posting that your friend installed the latest GLO software.
A change was implemented in this software to make it more difficult to accidentally turn the GLO on (and run the battery down) when carrying it in your flight bag. Instead of just turning on when the button is pressed, you have to now press-and-hold the power button for 1 second to get it to turn on.
If this isn't the issue, please contact us by phone or email as shown below and we will work with you for a resolution.
Thanks,
Steve

Reason: Updated with information about power-on sequence.
