Default PLB recommendations?

Does anyone have any recommendations for Personal Locator Beacons in terms of make/model? I don't yet have a 406 ELT, so I'll keep the PLB strapped on my shoulder harness. I also want to be able to use it for other outdoor activities. Don't want to pay a subscription and don't want to use it to track me realtime, just needed for emergency. ACR seems to be the main brand, but what are my options?

Steve,

I have a McMurdo Fastfind and am happy with it. Very simple to use.

Steve
For me I decided small size was the priority, (after GPS in the PLB was no 1 priority).
I think I want it in my pocket so if I can escape it is with me.
Thus I went for smallest, which was ACR ResQLink, (and not the ACR ResQLink+).

ACR SARLink PLB-350B, but this may have been superseded by a newer model.
