Default Plane Power Alternator Failure

My plane power 60 amp alternator failed somewhere in Oregon on my way home to Alberta, after leaving the Reno air races.

The alternator has been flying for 2 years and 8 months with 270 hours on the airplane. After sending the alternator back to Plane Power I learned it was a bearing faliure.

Plane Power provided excellent Tech Suport, over night shipping of a new alternator to get me on my way, and great support dealing with the old alternator.

I suppose it was the front bearing, and you set the tension by the torque slip method?

Would you recommend belt removal and hand spin for noise evaluation on annual?

This seems a bit early.
