Default liquid insulation for big relays

I starting the wiring soon and am anxious about all the large areas of uninsulated terminals on the big relays. Has anyone used liquid insulation on the binding posts as a belt and braces?

You can get liquid electrical tape at Home Depot. I painted it on over the contacts that couldn't use the regular boots.

A boot is best, but some places just don't allow a decent fit to the boot. I've used the liquid tape stuff before. Nothing wrong with a little extra safety and peace of mind. It does look a bit ugly, but so do sparks and smoke.

I've also made slits or holes in boots to allow small wires to tap onto the larger terminal. You can use silicone RTV to seal the boots back up.

Be safe... no shorts allowed!
