Countersunk the Flange of E-705 instead of E-702 -- Question!

Ok I messed up. Minor thing I'm pretty sure, but want to check with others.

On my RV7, I misread the manual and countersunk the forward side of the flange of the E-705 where it meets with the E-702 spar. I already did the same thing on the right elevator (not assembled yet, but ready) and just did the same on the left side and realized my error.

So I dimpled the E-702 end where it fits into the E-705 flange, but then that leaves thin metal for riveting from the countersink when I get to that part.

My idea is to just cut out a backing plate and match drill the holes and use that behind the E-705 flange to give it a little more "meat" to hang onto, just use a little longer rivet. Otherwise, I'll have to replace both my E-702 spars and E-705 ribs.

I did get a quick response back from Van's on this. They said I could just leave it as it is and rivet it. The elevator horn goes around this entire corner anyway and is held on by 12 rivets. It's very solid and the 4 rivets on this corner are mainly to "tack" it in place to hold it until the horn is attached.
*whew* I didn't screw up too badly.
