Question Dual Impluse Mags

Is there an advantage in running dual impluse mags vs 1 impluse and 1 non-impulse. I'm about ready to order my engine and all mnufacturer's offer this as an option.

thanks

Easier starting, 2 impulse couplings will usually help starting.

in a production airplane, a dual impulse mag set up was called a Bush kit.
For the exact reason the previous poster mentioned. In 8+ years that I
had my -6, It operated fine with only one impulse mag. Something to consider
if you plan to eventually add a P-mag and or other electronic
ignition with a hall effect sensor, you are better off with one impulse
coupler mag. That makes a p-mag, a drop in replacement, for the non-impulse coupling mag.
If you have two impulse couplers, you must remove the spacer on the engine that accomodates
the extra length for the impulse coupler, and replace the studs with shorter ones.

....and buy two mag gears at $200 plus each. The impulse coupled gear won't work with P-Mags.
