Default How many hours should a prop control last?

I'm looking at a prop control cable where the last two end segments are severely 'wiggly'. I'm thinking it is not long before this cable comes apart. I already have new parts on order, but was curious. Are people getting 1500+hrs out of this cable? I've always said my objective is to wear it out, but just want to be sure I'm "doing it right".

Not sure what cable you have but I used an Aircraft Spruce cable and it has over 2,700 hour on it. The bolt is worn at the point where it goes through the governor arm but a new bolt got rid of all my wiggle.

(The ACS cable is a Teflon lined cable.)

Default My experience

This spring at 1000 hours I had to replace my prop cable in our RV7a when it started sticking. After replacing it with a new cable from Vans, I was able to lube it and it works on the bench.

Mine is a standard Vans cable. The part I'm concerned with is the articulated rigid steel segments between the governor bracket and the governor arm.
