Default Wow..Move is Complete

I purchased an RV9A kit that was about 85% complete.
Problem was...it was in Lawrenceville, GA..and that's about
550 miles from Prairieville, LA.
So after much study, help from the forum folks we made the move
this weekend. It all worked out great.
This is the pic of us loaded and tarped ready to pull out for home.
My wife was driving the cargo van with everything else in it.

This is the box I built for the main gear to ride in, wheels were
held on three sides.

A pic showing nose and main chock/hold down system. I wanted the
weight riding on the three gear legs with only anti sway straps to
the fuselage

Last, a very tired me in the driveway at home. We covered 1119 miles
in 18:07 hours of driving.
Now to sort, and organize.

Very nice Bert! I sure like the box idea around the wheels. Congratulations on the big move.

How did you roll the plane past the car trailer fenders?

Default On One Fender

The tread width was exactly the width of the trailer. The ramp would
Go wider, so we had people on both sides and walked it to the fenders, then
One wheel just inside fender, and one on the fender, then in the box.
It rode great and flexed on the gear with no strain on the fuselage.
Pulled great at 70-75 on the interstate, almost no jiggle.

When you say we, I assume your wife went with you, my wife and I did a similar non stop trip, Nevada to Kansas and back to pick up quick build wings from a member here. She said never again but what memories!

Default In It's New Home

Yep, Bret..wife drove the 16' Penske cargo van with no cruise.
She's tough.
Here is a shot in the new, very temporary I hope, home.

And the new wing rack for the finished wings.

Now to make the plan forward and get going.

Default Taxi test

You can almost check off the taxi test as it went 70-75 mph.
Nice looking project.

Default Planning a similar move to Georgia

Bert, why didnt you travel with the empanage attached? Just wondering your thought process there.

As long as I protect the leading edges and lock the control surfaces, I thought Id be OK to travel with empanage attached.

Default Too Wide

Paul, the interstate law is no wider than 8'10".
HS is 10.5' or close, don't remember exact.
