Empennage fiberglass tips

I am wondering if anyone has used the "spray-type" polyurethane foam to fill the end caps where called for instead of shaping /constructing foam plugs...etc. This product has an adhesive nature, and expands to fill voids it is injected into.
Any corrosive concerns with this delivery system/product???

I think the spray foam will absorb water....not sure though. A known closed-cell foam may be best for this. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo.../lastafoam.php

I went to the local lumbar yard (not Lowes or HD) and they gave me some damaged blue Dow Styrofoam. I simply clecoed the tip in place, laid the foam up to it, traced it, cut it out, epoxied it in place, put two layers of glass over it, then used mogas to evaporate the foam, washed it out w/ soap and water, and laid three more layers of glass on the inside once it dried. It was VERY easy.

I tried the aerosol can expanding foam in the VS tip fairing. Initally it looked to be working great, however, once it had fully cured it had further expanded and forced the fiberglass fairing out of shape so that it no longer fitted on the VS. I ended up removing the foam and glueing in a plug of urethane foam left over from my Vari-Eze building days.
