F-713 Auxiliary Longeron Question

Does the rear end of the Aux. Long. need to touch the forward flange of the F-704 center section? Mine are 1/16 - 1/8" short. I can't see that this matters as the Aux. Long. is not fastened to the center section. Aux. Long. hole distance from edge is fine.
