This thread has gone from a console install a full blown panel upgrade, but I think that's pretty normal when working on RV's. If the thread needs to be moved please do.
I will find out this week if I made a bad move or not. I am planning to go to Osh this year and have a friend going with me for his first time, so backing out now would not go well.
I have a avionics shop 10 miles north of us that I have been working with on the last three planes I have owned. A super nice guy that also happens to fly an RV6. He called me three weeks ago, and said my Garmin equipment was shipping and he had an opening if I wanted to get started. He knew my plans, and he is also going to Osh and knows the important of having a flying aircraft, and insured me it wouldn't be a problem.
I also had a family vacation planned for some time now, and would be gone for a week then back for one week to get ready before departing for Osh. My vacation probably worked in the favor of the aviation shop, giving them two weeks without me around.

I got the panel as far along as I felt comfortable being able to fly it up the short flight and getting him the best head start possible.
Here is how it looked heading up to the shop.
This is week three and everything should be mounted and start turning things on tomorrow.
Not a lot of time to spare, but if we don't run into any unforeseen problems should have plenty of time.
I still need time to learn the system, and plan to get as many hours flight time as possible.
