Default may updates for garmin 396 map

I wanted to update my older (not updated several yrs) Garmin GPSmaps 396 and when connected to the computer, stated no maps available for download.

Are they available or has garmin stopped this service?

Thanks in advance, yall always know the answer.

Sounds like your trying to update the wrong thing.

Here is the site you need to go to for aviation database updates.

It didn't help that the Garmin site acted like it was perfectly happy to have the 396 attached to it, of course, rather than provide a helpful pointer. Navigation is their business, after all.

The 396 is still failing to take the update, but at least I'm $50 poorer and failing in the right place, so I've got that going for me!

Update: Kudos to Garmin. Only a five minute wait until a patient and pleasant service rep walked me through the process to get the update applied. Great service!
