Slick Mags

It seems that some Slick Mags are experiencing failures and Slick has put out a couple of service bulletins on the subject.

The S/N applicability is: S/N 0409XXXX through 0611XXXX and all mags that had a carbon brush or distributor block replaced between September 1 2004 and November 30 2006.

Also S/N 0612XXXX and UP and all mags that had a carbon brush or distributor block replaced on or after December 1, 2006. The S/N first four digits denote the year and month of mfg.

For SB 2-08: Look at the magneto data plate and any 4300/6300 or LASAR 4700/6700 series mag should be inspected under SB2-08 for premature wear of the breaker point cam which can affect timing.

For SB3-08 calls for inspection of the carbon brush for premature wear which can lead to catastrophic mag failure (and has done so).

To this day, you can't buy a new Robinson Helicopter without Bendix mags.
