Nose Gear Intersecting Fairing Stress Crack (any fix?)

Hey all,

I had my 6a painted last year and had a few things added to the exterior to update it. One of those items was a nose gear intersecting fairing.

The mechanic installed it to the bottom cowl with 4 screws and closed the seam behind the leg with 2 screws.

Within the last 50 hours of flying I am seeing cracking at the seam screws and my nose gear leg fairing is cracking at the front downwards.

I stop drilled the leg fairing and it looks as if that solved that issue but I don't know how or if I can stop the intersecting fairing from cracking. It's always going to be an area of flex (taxi, landing etc.)

Has anyone else had this problem and have a solution?

Thanks,
DMat

The nose gear leg flexes during landing and taxi, requiring some amount of gap between the gear fairing and intersection fairing. Sounds like you didn't have sufficient gap.

The fairings are typically made from fiberglass. Easy to repair, fill holes and reposition to provide sufficient spacing.
