trim run time

RV-12 PAP Section G1 calls for a trim test. (I have a Dynon HDX Skyview) It says to actuate "NOSE UP" and verify that the motor runs until at full travel. The motor only runs 5 seconds before stopping and is not at full travel yet. Actuating it again will usually get it to stop at full travel. Works the same in "NOSE DOWN". Is this normal or is there a setting in the Dynon that I have not found?

Yes, it’s operating correctly. It’s the “runaway trim function”. See the PAP.

which PAP version?

Which version of the PAP are you looking at? The Rev.14 PAP for the RV-12 (Not is12) is not worded that way. That is the one listed on the Vans website as the most current.

It was revision 2, which was current when I built mine. But you’ll find the same information in the HDX manual.

Trim motor "runaway" safety

Great! Thanks for the info. I see it in the Dynon manual now. It makes great sense to have that safety. I will make a note of it in the PAP.
