Fuel pump placement

I see various plans for the placement of in line fuel pump.
Some have it before the gascolator, some between the gascolator and the mechanical pump. Any rationale for one vs the other?. Mine will be on a Lyc and used, in part, to pressurize the fuel for the electric primer solenoid.

All depends

Lots of ways to safely do it. Ensure the particular/filtration requirements are met for each of the components; BP, total FI system or components if system reqs aren’t listed (servos, injectors, etc.)

“Typical” would be a courser filtration before the BP that meets the reqs for that component. Another after the BP that meets the reqs of the fuel system. Why two filters? The BP commonly makes domestic object debris.

Quick summary, think of it more as filter placement versus BP placement.
