Oil Filters on RV3's

I have discovered that my 45 degree ECI oil filter adapter I had on the
Piper Colt is not going to fit on the RV3. What will work? Is the straight
Lycoming filter adapter useable?

Thanks
Jim Miller

Mine has the straight back filter with a ss bowl riveted to the firewall for clearance. I don't think an angled adp. would fit but I've never measured or tried to fit one so it just might. If I was going to redo it I would attach the bowl with screws so it could be removed from the cockpit side. There have been times when it would have been nice to have access there. I would also consider something similar behind the left mag, it is very close to the firewall making it difficult to remove.

We have the angled adapter - fits fine with the correct spacer, but it's still very tight.

Is your adapter the ECI? If possible could you post a photo. I looked at the
ECI website and they have three spacers up to 2.5 inches. Is your RV3
a new 3B? I will re-look at the fit with possible extension. Do you remember
what size spacer you used?

Thanks
Jim Miller PS My RV3 is an A- built in 86-89.-

I'll have to check all the numbers but they are in my notes at home - won't be there until after OSH.

Thanks. I am going to stick on the oil screen for now but getting a filter
on will be a major priority later.

Thanks
