Default Waterton Park ?

The spousal unit booked a couple nights in Waterton Park next week(her aunt and cousin are there). We will already be at our place in Marion (97MT). and was dreading the drive of 3.75hrs....but wasn't finding a convenient airfield.

1. Are there any close decent airports within distance?
2. Courtesy cars, rental?
3. border crossing?

Lethbridge is probably the closest (~ 1 hour from Waterton), you can clear customs there and rental cars would be available. Pincher Creek is closer but no customs or rentals.

Default Getting to Waterton

You could fly and clear customs at Del Bonita (a grass strip right on the border also known as Whetstone International ) Then a short hop to Cardston and have your relatives pick you up at the Cardston airport. Make sure you tie your plane down well. It is less than a half hour drive from there to Waterton. I don't believe there are rental cars in Cardston.

If you choose to do this, stop by the Remington Carriage museum in Cardston. They have a wonderful collection of horse drawn transportation. Worth the stop.

Alternatively drive the "going to the sun" road through Glacier Park, take your time and enjoy the scenic trip.

thanks guys. Looks like we'll be driving....airplane is not on someones itinerary. oh well win some lose some

the Going to the Sun road is a nice route some days. But Labor day is not one of those days. We've been to Glacier Park many times, so will avoid the last days of summer crowds this time.
