Alt. Air with K&N Filter

I've read through most of the alt. air posts. Has anyone built and alt air supply past the K&N filter, before the horizontal induction?? I'm using SJ long cowl, horizontal induction 10-360 M1B. I'm thinking the alt. air before the filter is somewhat useless, it seems that having the air supply past the filter increases safety x 10. What I don't know, is there room past the filter bulkhead to make another inlet??

The only question I got wrong on my check ride oral was about the alt air/air filter.

I still remember that answer/explanation to this day.

Basically, the air filter can get plugged by a lot of things, including ice.

The alt air is a direct feed, not through the air filter for that reason.
