Default Sticky VC Compass
I bought a used PAI 700 compass from another member and it seems to have a sticky spot in the 30-90 degree range. If I turn very slowly and shake it a bit it will sometimes make it through that range, otherwise it will rotate backwards to the correct heading going the long-way-round.

Does anyone know if these things can be overhauled? Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I cured a VC compass of the same problem by disassembling the compass and cleaning the inside. The compass had just enough junk inside to hinder free movement.
