If you are using just fuses what did you use for your alternator circuit?

I can only find up to 40A for the ATC style fuse???

Thanks

ANL type

I am using the ANL type. B&C has them as do most marine places.

I will be using one of these on the main bus feed line FWF, downstream of the battery master relay:

It will be mounted in one of these on the firewall:

I might put an ANL current limiter on the line from the alternator, but if that is placed upstream of the main bus feed coming off the battery master all it does is protect the wire going to the alternator - which has marginal benefit. The alternator isn’t capable of putting out much more than it’s rated amperage. The picture above has two current limiters, not connected yet. I’m assuming one of them will protect the feed coming off the master relay before the firewall. The other one is maybe is there to protect the alternator feed wire from a short circuit that would allow the battery to melt that wire and anything near it with a burst of power FROM the battery going toward the alternator. The alternator probably isn’t capable of melting the ANL current limiter if sized correctly. Current limiters are slow to blow. Not sure what that means, maybe a second or two vs a split second for a blade type fuse.
