Evening Flight in an RV-7A

My Hangar buddy has a beautiful RV-7A and we went up Thursday afternoon and shot this video. The whole video is shot with GoPros. This interior shots were done with a GoPro mounted on a handheld Brushless Gimble (like the ones used on the Multi-Rotor drones).

Brushless gimbal

OK... I see the usual RAM mounts. And I know what a brushless servo motor has inside it. But, what is a brushless gimbal?
By the way.... I like it.

I have a friend who does a lot video with his drone quadcopter. He has one of these hanging under it:

I made a hand held version, powered by a battery that I got from a RC hobby shop. It's basically a 2-axis gyro that stabilizes the video taken by the gopro. I got some U-shaped aluminum from Lowes and an old drill handle, plus 2 clecos and put it together.

Cool video! I love the gimbal shots during the turns, which gives a different perspective on the bank angles.

The gimbal worked pretty good the majority of the time. There were a few moments in the higher G's when it got confused as to which way is up. It's a heck of lot better than trying to use my shaky hands to shoot random video footage.
