496 odd screen on startup?

does anyone get this at startup?
mine will stay like that and not go away.
if i turn it off and restart about 5 times it will start up normally.
any ideas?

Call Garmins number, it's more than likely just corrupt software.

I have seen this occasionally on startup. Just recently started happening. I immediately restart and it goes away.

Did you try pulling the battery? I would pull the battery, let it sit for a few minutes and try again.

spoke with garmin.........

need to do a WebUpdater for the software. can be done on the mac with a usb to mini cable. thats it. must be done.

final report...............

updating software did nada so $400 hard drive issue. sent to garmin. be back when it gets back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEnrfNOdJsg

the final chapter............

5 business days later i have a new 496 in hand. including new battery and antenna. great company. i hate old gps units. ciao.
