Mounting Xpndr and Comms near Ants

Its my understanding that mounting these close to antennae is good. On my -14 that means in the fuse forward the seats.

Anybody done this?

Not a good idea. The ants are attracted to the Ozone created by the circuit boards in the GPS and other avionics.....

For the transponder, yes, keep it short.
For the com, not so important.
It all has to do with how lossy the coax is, high frequencies being more lossy. DME, ADSB, gps are all ‘high frequency’.
Of course there are exceptions, like the Garmin gps units (high frequency) that require some minimum loss.
