Exercising Temp Repairman Certificate

I was issued my temporary airman certificate: repairman for my RV7A today. Woohoo.

Certificate number is shown as "pending". I want to sign off my annual condition inspection that I have completed over the last few weeks. Plane hasn't flown since Oct 31. Can I legally sign that off now and fly before the plastic card comes in the mail? If not, what is the purpose of the temporary?

Yes you can. Just write in "pending" in place of the number and put the number in when you get the permanent certificate.

Exactly how I did mine. Didn't get the number until two months after condition inspection.
