Breakfast at Martha's Vineyard

It was one of those perfect half-Mondays. Why half? Because I work second shift every other Monday.

Hungry.Beat the traffic early morning, jump inside RV and back the same direction I drove an hour ago :)

Kennedy controller saw me bouncing under Bravo at couple hundred feet and offered his smooth airspace at 1400'. Much nicer our ATC are the best.

The breeze was so stiff I sailed eastbound at 2100 rpm making 160 knots. Passed Block Island and No-Man Land.

Vineyard Tower wasn't busy. Couple jets inbound, a Pilatus outbound and half dozen little guys on the way from different directions. Short approach granted made first taxiway and parked.

Next to this beauty.

Home style terminal.

Plane View Restaurant. As the name said - plane view.

No food picture. What you want for $6.29 at Martha's? A salmon BBQ? :D

The way back was slow. Slow I mean real slow like 90 kts. I never fight headwinds I enjoy them. More flight time in logbook. :D

Airport #2

Landed at Airport #3 (Orange County KMGJ) The purpose of landing was you know what. :)

Next stop Aeroflex-Andover 12N. Beautiful spot. Air carrier. A Cub was doing airwork and suggested other runway.

15-6.jpg

Landed at 1/3 plenty of runway to stop. Couple guys are fishing from inflatable down there by threshold.

Time to vroom back. Work is work. It keeps my tanks full.

You should have landed at Katama Airpark, 1B2. Three grass runways, couple of bi-planes there giving sightseeing rides, sometimes mock fighting, always a good show. GREAT restaurant right by the end of one of the runways, so much so that the locals always pack it, at least during the season, as some of the locals aren't there full time. And in the summer, you can taxi to the south end parking and enjoy a dip in the ocean.

Nice Day!

Hey Vlad......nice half-day trip! I use to fly the daily newspaper called "the Standard Times" in a Cherokee six from New Bedford to Nantucket and Marthas Vinyard every day....THE BEST PAPER ROUTE ANYONE COULD ASK FOR!:D:D

Rich Katama is a great place indeed and I've been there couple times. First time Captain John brought me there.

We enjoyed local restaurant and met good people. Silly me I didn't recognize elaborate Italian scheme that day :D Captain John took this picture which later showed up in Sport Aviation Magazine http://www.sportaviationonline.org/sportaviation/201207/?pg=('116')#pg116 I was just out of Phase One.

Then he (yes Captain John) demanded his royalties in camels. I had to fly to Nova Scotia, Canada to find them (thanks RonB). I told Customs they are pets :D
