Show us a pic of your FINISHED RV-8/8A!!!

N88KC

This is over 3 years late but here is a picture of my RV-8, N88KC. First flight in March of 2018, it now has more than 300 hours on it. A fairly simple build with a Superior O360 from Aerosport Power and a Catto prop. It weighs in at 1,024 lbs and performs very nicely on a fixed pitch prop.

The only disappointment in the first 3 years was the engine was impacted by the Superior crankshaft AD. Aerosport power replaced the crankshaft for me earlier this year and I can't say enough good things about Aerosport Power - the work was done both faster and at lower cost than the initial quote. Great support! As for Superior - well that's another story.

I am currently upgrading the panel from a GRT Sport VFR setup (which has served me very well) to an IMC capable Garmin G3X touch with a GNX 375. Hope to be posting new panel pictures early next year.

Beautiful 8. Great nose art.

Beautiful airplane. Perfect mix of color and polish.

Love the nose art. Wiley is a hero. Not very bright but he never gives up.

Just another amazing paint job by Evoke Aviation. Jonathan’s team does incredible work! Just picked it up from paint. First flight was in January. ShowPlanes fastback and cowling.

Holy cow that's beautiful! Congrats!

Which MT prop is that??

Tom's Dream now has an airworthiness certificate. I wish Tom had lived to see this day in person but I know he's looking down and smiling. First flight should be in early August. I'm skipping OSH this year to go do some training with Bruce Bohannon at 81D.

Thank you Darrel Watson for the inspection and RV insight.

Tom's Dream now has an airworthiness certificate.

Well done, that's excellent news.
Tom was a dear friend of mine and and he told me how glad he was his project went into (your) good hands.
Thanks for seeing it through and for sharing, made my day.

I'm surprised I'd forgotten to share a photo on this thread in 2022 after Falsi-Fighter became airworthy, but here's one of the best I have so far. It doesn't look like this right now; the wheel fairings are off for winter, being repaired and redesigned after the first-round damage that seems to be a common occurrence with wheel fairings. 84.6 hrs. as of last Monday. Still work to do, but she seems to like to fly.

99.999% Finished!

This was a father son project. My dad and I got our air worthiness certificate in October of 2021. We have flown it a bit working out the bugs and tweaking the avionics. We just picked it up from the paint shop. The pictures don't do the paint justice, as always. The metallic black really shines! All that is left is out tail art, pilot insignia, painting of the prop and some interior detail work.
We spent a couple weeks coming up with our paint scheme and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Close to home

VBug,

Looks like you're out of LZU (based on your builders log). We've got another very similar looking Showplanes RV-8, 12 miles south of you at GA80. Also waiting on paint! Dan Kintner is the builder/owner and decided to make a custom slider canopy. But other than that and the prop, you guys are almost twins! I showed your pic to Dan and he said he'd like to look your airplane over sometime and admire. We've flown into LZU for the EAA690 breakfast several time, our neighbor Chuck makes the pancakes, but I haven't seen your airplane out there yet. Come on in to Whispering Pines sometime!

Nice canopy! I was at LZU for about 8 months. The box hangar I was in the county was threatening not to renew the lease. After trying to reach out to the airport manager, which was fruitless, for a solution that wouldn't put five aircraft on the ramp I packed up and moved to Athens. Not ideal, but I'm not outside until I can source a hanger that is closer.

After almost 10 years since I started the build and two years since she first flew I can finally post in this thread.

Just got her back from the paint shop. Lancaster Aero in Smoketown PA (S37) did a fantastic job with both the scheme design and the paint.
